With all the challenges from the past year, there is one thing that Ron Jaworski’s Foundation-Jaws Youth Playbook knows for certain. Children deserve the joy of getting their first bike. The pride of owning a bike encourages lifelong habits of exercise, outdoor activity, and independence. However, the cost of a bike can be overwhelming for families in underserved communities. During this holiday season, Jaws Youth Playbook will be collecting donations towards purchasing hundreds of brand-new Huffy bikes for the 4th Annual Jaws Holiday Bike Drive on December 6-7, 2021, at the Community Center for Visitation in the Kensington.
Each year, it’s surprising to see that most of the children who receive our bikes do not know how to ride one. Jaws Youth Playbook has partnered with the Bicycle Coalition of Philadelphia who will be educating children on Bike Safety and learning the rules of the road with traffic lights, intersections, and bike lanes. As part of our new partnership, Jaws Youth Playbook also donated $25,000 to Philadelphia Bicycle Coalition to help complete the “Lil Philly Safety Village” in Hunting Park – the first Bike Traffic Park in Philadelphia. Jaws Youth Playbook will also be allotting several new bikes to the children of Hunting Park as a commitment of the new traffic park!
Volunteers and staff will come together on December 6-7, 2021 to assemble & distribute bikes over the Holiday season for the children in Kensington. Now join us with making a child smile this December!
