On behalf of the entire Beasley Media Group family, we are pleased to announce that the company has entered into an asset purchase agreement with Entercom Communications Corp. to purchase 92.5 WXTU-FM in Philadelphia, PA.
This is a very special moment in the history of Beasley Media Group as WXTU-FM returns home to where it all began with our family of stations. Our Chairman and Company Founder, George Beasley originally launched the station’s country format back in 1983 at a time when people said country music would never work in the Philadelphia market. It went on to become one of the leading country stations of its kind in America.
In 2014, WXTU-FM was swapped by Beasley to CBS (now Entercom Communications) as part of an exchange of certain stations between the parties. Today’s announcement represents a unique and exciting opportunity for our company to welcome WXTU back into the Beasley Media Group family.
The transaction is expected to close during the late third quarter or fourth quarter of 2018 (subject to Federal Communications Commission approval and other customary closing conditions). We will work closely with everyone involved to ensure a smooth and supportive transition over the upcoming months. We will begin providing services for the station under a local marketing agreement on July 23, 2018.
