| For nearly 20 years, Cuba Libre Restaurant & Rum Bar has provided an “escape” to Havana to guests like yourself. It has been our valued staff that has delivered on our mission every day. Sadly, on March 16 – due to government mandates and efforts to protect our staff and guests during the COVID-19 outbreak – we had to make the heart-wrenching decision to close our 4 restaurants and lay off our 450 employees. We have been moved by the continuing love, support and commitment to our company’s future shown by our employees in the face of their own difficult personal circumstances. We are humbled. As we work to put our restaurant in a position to re-open when we get the “all-clear”, our employees need your help. Utilizing GoFundMe, we have created a Cuba Libre Employee Support Fund – 100% of which will support our employees who are directly affected by COVID-19 or are otherwise experiencing the most critical hardships. Cuba Libre’s owners have personally seeded the fund with a $10,000 donation and have initiated other funding efforts. An employee-led committee will review requests for support and administer this fund. In addition to donations collected, gift card sales proceeds will also support our employees during this difficult time (please see info below).
