A vital part of the BCA culture is creating a safe comfortable environment where business leaders, the owners and CEOs of companies (“Decision Makers”), can build relationships with their peers. In order to maintain our integrity as a decision maker organization, we vet this aspect during our membership interview process. If a change in leadership occurs within a current BCA Member company, the new leadership also gets vetted by our Board.
Decision Maker Application Process #
In order to be recognized as a Decision Maker within BCA, approval must be given by the Board at time of selection. Should a Decision Maker change or additional Decision Makers desire to be recognized (after selection), approval must still be given by the Board, following the process outlined below. Application for an Additional Decision Maker (ADM) can only be requested by current, existing Decision Maker (DM). The request is funneled through Service Department (SD).
Initial Request
-
- ● Current DM meets with head of SD to discuss the request and review the criteria for being recognized as a Decision Maker.
- ● Should current DM still desire to proceed after this discussion, the timeline and application process will then be outlined and reviewed.
First Meeting
-
- ● SD meets with applying Applicant to discuss process, interview and expectations.
Application Submission
-
- ● If Applicant still desires to proceed (after two meetings mentioned above), the official ADM Application must be completed and returned to BCA.
Presentation of Application to Board
-
- ● Application is presented to the Board at the next scheduled Board meeting, regardless if merit exists. To remain democratic and protect our integrity, we present every application received.
- ● If application is approved to Interview, a Minimum of two Board members are appointed to the application
Due Diligence Period
During the minimum 60 days due diligence period:
-
- ● Board points interviews Applicant, ensuring the candidate meets all the character and commitment requirements for being a recognized Decision Maker as well as understands and respects the BCA culture.
- ● The BCA SD will guide the candidate through the entire process and liaison with the Board. During this time, it is encouraged that the applicant learn as much about the expectations of being a Decision Maker.
- ● After initial Board interviews, SD contacts Board Points and Applicant to debrief on interviews.
- ● After those debriefs, SD will verify Applicant still desires to move forward, at which time, SD will identify two members from general membership to speak with Applicant.
- ● SD debriefs with Applicant and general Members.
- ● When all interviews (Board and general Member) are complete, SD determines a selection date.
- ● Prior to selection date, Joleen will schedule a call with Applicant. Joleen will also schedule a call with the applicant. When applicable, a call with the current DM will also take place.
Application Valid #
A Decision Maker application remains open and valid, so long as there is movement on an application. If there is no movement on an application for 90 days, the application is automatically declined to interview.
Timeframe to Apply #
If an application has been declined, there is a 12-month waiting period before re-applying. Unless of course there is a documented, official change within the company or to his role.
